Chairman Miles welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained the America250 celebration.

Human Resource Generalist Tommi Mascaro presented the June Employee of the Month Award to Public Works Mechanic Thomas Casey. She read the nomination letter. Public Works Director Mike Casper explained Mr. Casey’s diverse experience and willingness to help whenever and wherever needed. Each Commissioner expressed their appreciation for his hard work, dedication, and positive attitude. Mr. Casey was grateful for the award.

Public Works Director Mike Casper provided an update on existing projects and upcoming work to the public. County Road 29 has been paved, and it turned out nicely. Burdick Materials paved 12000 West in Bluebell. The parties discussed guardrails, cement barriers, and traffic signs that UDOT will be providing. The County partnered with Duchesne City and placed reclaimed asphalt on Moon Ave from the church to the jail. They will be paving in Talmage for the next couple of weeks. The parties discussed an issue on the dugway where a truck leaked hydraulic fluid on the road. They are zipping some roads in the county and applying dust suppressant to graveled roads. Director Casper will meet with Scott Duncan to partner on road repairs. The parties discussed the Moonlake approach and how supers are using it. It wasn’t intended for commercial use.

Emergency Management Director Josh Phillips provided an update to the public on the current fires. The Grandview fire in North Fork was human-caused and burned 5 acres. Two others were extinguished quickly on King’s Peak and Bonneville. He would like the public to know that everything is dry and extra caution needs to be taken. Deputy Clerk-Auditor Lexie Clayburn presented a draft payment plan letter. The parties discussed the letter, and Commissioner Chugg suggested some changes. Commissioner Killian made a motion to approve the payment plan letter as amended. Commissioner Chugg seconded the motion. Commissioner Killian voted aye, Commissioner Chugg voted aye, and Commissioner Miles voted aye. The motion passed.
