Whereas, the Borough Council finds that entering into the License Agreement is in the best interest of the Borough and its residents.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, by the Borough Council of the Borough of Somerville, County of Somerset, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the License Agreement with 24 Division REDEV LLC, in substantially the form on file with the Borough Clerk, for the installation, operation, and maintenance of a Borough-owned security camera on the north wall of the building at 24 Division Street serving Firemen’s Walk, subject to such non-material revisions as the Borough Attorney may approve.
2. The security camera and associated equipment shall be and remain the property of the Borough, and all recordings shall be retained, accessed, and disclosed in accordance with Borough policy and applicable law.
3. The Borough Administrator, Mayor, Borough Attorney, and other appropriate Borough officials and employees are hereby authorized to take all actions necessary to effectuate the purposes of this resolution, including the procurement of installation services in accordance with the Local Public Contracts Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq.
4. A certified copy of this resolution shall be provided to 24 Division REDEV LLC, the Chief of Police, and Clerk-Administrator.
5. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
Initiative to Mark International Overdose Awareness Day
Whereas, International Overdose Awareness Day is recognized annually on August 31 and seeks to reduce the stigma associated with drug-related deaths while spreading the message that overdose deaths are preventable; and
Whereas, the Community in Crisis Goes Purple initiative raises awareness about substance use prevention, recovery resources, and community support; and
Whereas, beginning August 31, 2026, and continuing throughout September, purple flags will be displayed on the grounds of Borough Hall; and
Whereas, each purple flag will represent and honor a life lost within the community as a result of the opioid crisis.
