Council discussed health insurance expenditures and noted that spending appeared to be below the anticipated percentage for this point in the year. Members encouraged departments to preserve any available balances where possible for future needs.

Council also noted that no additional County General appropriations had been requested during the meeting and expressed hope that the trend would continue.

President Hughes reviewed upcoming meetings. The 2027 Budget Public Hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Additional budget meetings were scheduled for the following day.

The next regular Council meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Councilmember Kantz also noted that the next Municipal Unit Strategic Task Force meeting was scheduled for September 1 at 4:00 p.m. to review initial options regarding local income tax rates.
