integrity of the road. So, the highway department could have some impact on and do this work to maintain and save the road even if it's off the road itself. Mr. Hamilton stated Lochmueller is working on an engineering solution. They're not done with their proposed design yet, so we will wait and see what they come up with.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Borchers stated Gerald Davis request to tie a 4-inch perimeter drain for a new septic system into the 12-inch Sam Davis tile. Mr. Hamilton moved for approval. Motion seconded by Commissioner Riggin. Motion passed 5-0.

Mr. Borchers stated the DNR emailed me and requested to vacate part of the Chalfant Ditch. This is going out 35 right before you get to Mount Pleasant. The DNR wants to buy that 55 acres and mitigate it into a wet land. I explained to them that there's 1500 to 2,000 feet of tile to the south of there. It still runs. It's still good tile. If we vacate that section of the ditch, that’ll cut that south section off for maintenance. I would not do it. I'd give it a disapproval. Mr. Hamilton stated I agree with not vacating this tile. There's also drainage from the west of this that flows into it because of the natural topography. I think that the only alternative that we could offer the DNR would be to replace the tile with non-perforated tile in this area and maintain any water that feeds in from the south, east or west. If the DNR is interested in paying for reconstruction with non-perforated tile, that would be an alternative that we could offer. Mr. Borchers stated I will send an email and tell him that if he wants to request to vacate, he needs to submit a formal petition then we'll have a public hearing and go through the regular process. Mr. Borchers asked can you vacate a ditch on a property you don’t own? Mr. Brooke stated yes if you have the property owner’s permission.

OLD BUSINESS:

Mr. Borchers stated I was asked to get some quotes on the pate shoemaker tile. I only received one quote. Mr. Hamilton stated I talked to Mr. Wright yesterday and he told me he submitted a quote yesterday. Mr. Borchers stated I didn’t see it. I received one from Butler. Its sealed. I would like to go back through my email. Mr. Hamilton, if it is under the $10,000.00 threshold, you are able to award the work outside of the board meeting. Mr. Borchers stated I would like to give you an update on the debrushing from last month as well. I’ve only heard from one contractor and that was JJC. He has the one off of Moore Rd. by Farmington half to three-quarters of the way done. The other two contractors I have not heard from.

MAINTENANCE CLAIMS:

Mr. Christy asked work order #7483 Wildlife Solutions. Did he remove what he cut? Mr. Borchers stated yes. Mr. Hamilton stated the invoice for JJC Excavating for sinkholes says gasoline and oil in the account title. I think that is an error. Mr. Hamilton moved for approval of maintenance claims with correction. Motion seconded by Mr. Christy. Motion passed 5-0.
