Mr. Coffman said that the lights will be replaced with LED fixtures and the poles will remain as is.
Mr. Klopsch commented on the street lights in Oakwood and how they were replaced a year ago. A few complaints were received because the lights are more intense. He assumes the same will happen when these lights are replaced.
Mr. Coffman said that the neighbors will see less total light output, but it will be more intense and more evenly lit at the field. There would be less light spill beyond the school’s property than what currently exists.
Mr. Byington asked if there were plans to update the lighting at Lane Stadium.
Mr. Coffman said not right now.
Mr. Aidt closed the public hearing.
It was then moved by Mr. Lauterbach and seconded by Mr. Byington that Application #24-5, to amend a previously approved Special Use permit to upgrade field lighting at Mack Hummon Stadium located at 1200 E. Schantz Avenue, be approved.
Upon call of the roll on the question of the motion, the following vote was recorded:
There being three (3) YEA votes, thereon, said motion carried.
Mr. Klopsch shared that the Oakwood Rotary Club will present the Civic Leadership Award to Mr. Aidt for his commitment to voluntary public service. Mr. Aidt has served on the Planning Commission for nearly 20 years and has done an exceptional job.
The Commission congratulated Mr. Aidt on this well-deserved award.
There being no further business, the Planning Commission adjourned. The public meeting concluded at 6:08 p.m.
