Economic Factors and Next Year's Budget and Rates
- The 2025 tax rates for the County increased to $0.6970 from $0.6918 in 2024 per $100 of assessed value. Overall, the County's assessed value increased to $4,646,349,943 for 2025 compared to $4,547,592,042 for 2024.
- Property tax is the County's largest source of revenue. Local Income Tax (LIT) formerly known as County option income tax (COIT) is the second largest source of the County's current governmental revenues. These funds can be used for capital projects as well as ongoing operating expenses.
- State-wide property tax caps (based upon a percent of gross AV by property class) became effective in 2009. For the 2025 budget year, the loss to the County due to the caps is $8,512,166. Expenditure restraints have been used to offset this loss.
All the above factors were considered in preparing the County's budget for the 2025 calendar year.
