Harmony Ames and Anton Ames spoke on behalf of the application. They stated that the property has sentimental value to their family and that they would like to develop a small RV park and campground that fits the character of Altona. They stated that they want to keep the park small, preserve privacy, and maintain the night sky.
Chairperson Nelson asked whether there would be an on-site manager.
Anton Ames stated that they would have a manager or someone overseeing the property.

Duncan Kading stated that staff recommended adding a road approach permit requirement.

Duncan Kading stated that condition number 1 would be amended to allow only RVs and tents. He stated that condition number 5 would authorize 10 RV spaces and 5 tent sites. He stated that condition number 10 would be amended to require parking for each RV space, each campsite, and the bathhouse. He also stated that condition number 17 would be added to require a road approach permit.

Connie Sweat made a motion to approve the conditional use permit for Ames Peak LLC to operate an RV park and commercial campground, with the addition of condition number 17 and the amendments to condition numbers 1, 5, and 10.
