The Council of the city of Oakwood, State of Ohio, met in a work session and executive session at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the city of Oakwood, 30 Park Avenue, Oakwood, Ohio, 45419. Council then met in a regular session at 7:30 p.m., in the council chambers of the city of Oakwood.
The Mayor, Mr. William Duncan, presided, and the Clerk of Council, Ms. Lori Stacel, recorded. Mayor Duncan opened the meeting by asking all present to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mrs. Hilton advised Council she had read the meeting minutes of the March 12, 2018 regular session, work session and executive session. Mrs. Hilton reported she found the minutes correct and complete. Therefore, it was moved by Mrs. Hilton and seconded by Mr. Stephens that the minutes of the sessions of Council aforementioned be approved as written and the reading thereof at this session be dispensed with. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously and it was so ordered.
STATUS REPORTS – Mayor Duncan provided an update on the Shafor Park Tennis Court Improvements in response to the visitor comments made at the March 12 council meeting. He asked that the “Shafor Park Tennis Court Reconstruction” document be attached to the minutes and then he read a portion of the document into the record.
Mayor Duncan also responded to a few of the project concerns that were raised at the March 12, 2018 meeting, and noted that the “Shafor Park Tennis Court Reconstruction” document that will be attached to the minutes responds to each concern raised at the meeting.
Mayor Duncan shared that the tennis courts are regulation size, other than the baseline, or the back of the court, which will be 3 feet shorter on each side. He explained that if the courts were any longer at the ends, the Collingwood roadway would need to be modified to make room, which would eliminate the diagonal parking. Also, it would increase the cost of the project by about $100,000.
Mayor Duncan then read a letter from the Oakwood Schools into the record:
“Oakwood Schools are pleased to support the renovation of the City of Oakwood Tennis Courts located near the Oakwood Community Center that will be the home to Oakwood boys and girls tennis. We appreciate being involved in the process, with suggestions from our tennis coaches being incorporated in the final design. Our coaches and the OHSAA, which regulates high school sports in Ohio, have reviewed the design and find no safety or size issues with the courts.
This cooperation and partnership between the District and the City fulfills a need for the Oakwood Schools and will, in the long run, save the schools money. Oakwood Schools has an outstanding working relationship with the City of Oakwood when providing
