CATEGORIES

Following the analysis of the card sort data, specific categories were identified that best represent how users intuitively organize information. These categories are informative in guiding s potential redesign of The Social Outfit’s information architecture to enhance website navigation and overall information architecture.

Category Selection and Validation:

  • Top Categories Identified: From the analysis, we determined the top categories based on frequency and consistency of grouping by the participants. These categories reflect the most common groupings of content from the user’s perspective. While the hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) suggested 7 optimal cluster – 8 cluster categories are recommended to better distinguish labels based on participant feedback and issues identified while analyzing the results. The determination to recommend an 8th cluster was based on participant feedback that indicated heavy overlap between labels associated with the organization’s mission and story, as well as the natural clustering produced in the HCA that distinguished between specific labels in this category, as seen in figure 6.
