MESSAGE FROM CITY
MANAGER KATIE SMIDDY
Dear Fellow Citizens,
It is a privilege to serve as your City Manager and an honor to present the 2024 Annual Report for the City of Oakwood. This report highlights major accomplishments and initiatives over the past year along with key financial information.
Just as we pause to acknowledge and celebrate our rich history, we must with equal conviction be ready to leap into the future with courage and assurance. As a member of this special community, you are an integral part of our community conversation. I hope you will stay engaged in that conversation for many years to come.
I am pleased to report that we have charted a financial path that will allow us to continue to provide the essential services our community deserves.
Although I’ve only been here for a few months, I’ve already witnessed our outstanding city staff–true public servants–demonstrate resilience and determination time and again as they work to tackle the various demands we face.
They have a clear vision to consistently meet the community’s needs and provide professional, high-quality programs, services, and events. We also have many involved community members who work hard to make Oakwood the premier community.
The Annual Budget allocates resources to a variety of City priorities and programs to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, enhance the quality of life, and maintain and develop Oakwood’s facilities and infrastructure. We take great pride in making Oakwood a welcoming and vibrant community, valued by those who visit for its parks, local businesses, cultural events, and a strong sense of neighborhood.
As we move forward, many goals established in previous years align well with our current priorities. We will continue to implement the City Council’s top priorities, balance current revenues and expenses, and maintain appropriate reserve levels.
I have great hope for the future, and I look forward to our continued partnership in service to this special community.
If you have any questions about this report or have any other issues that you wish to discuss with me, please do not hesitate to call (937-298-0600) or email (smiddy@oakwoodohio.gov).
Sincerely,
Katie Smiddy, City Manager
