Approving Project Closeout and release of retainage to Top Line Construction Corp. for Altamont Place Roadway Improvements in the amount of $4,490.89
Whereas, the Borough Council of the Borough of Somerville previously awarded a contract to Top Line Construction Corp., 22 5th Street, Somerville, NJ 08876, through Resolution No. 25-0818-233 for work associated with Altamont Place Roadway Improvements in the total contract amount of $207,464.18; and
Whereas, the Borough Council authorized Change Order #1 on May 18, 2026 increasing the contract amount to $224,544.26; and
Whereas, all work required under the contract has been completed to the satisfaction of the Borough and the project has been recommended for closeout; and
Whereas, a retainage balance remains due and payable to Top Line Construction Corp. in the amount of $4,490.89; and
Whereas, the Borough Administration recommends release of the retainage and final closeout of the contract.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Borough Council of the Borough of Somerville, County of Somerset, State of New Jersey, that the contract with Top Line Construction Corp., 22 5th Street, NJ 08876, is hereby approved for final closeout; and
Be It Further Resolved that the Borough Council hereby authorizes the release of the remaining retainage in the amount of Four Thousand Four Hundred Ninety Dollars and Eighty-Nine Cents ($4,490.89) to Top Line Corp.
Awarding a Contract to Downes Tree Service Co., Inc. for Carol Pager Park Ballfields Improvements in the amount of $805,445.00
Whereas, the Borough of Somerville publicly advertised bids for Carol Pager Park Ballfields Improvements in accordance with local public contract law; and
Whereas, Kevin Sluka, Municipal Clerk, accepted bids on July 1, 2026, and read them aloud publicly witnessed by Kathy Gerndt and Mark Ibrahim and representatives from T & M Associates. Downes Tree Service Co., Inc. 65 Royal Avenue, Hawthorne, New Jersey 07506 was the lowest responsible bidder in the amount of $805,445.00.
Be It Resolved, that the Borough Council of the Borough of Somerville, County of Somerset, State of New Jersey hereby awards a contract to Downes Tree Service Co., Inc., 65 Royal Avenue, Hawthorne, New Jersey 07506 at $805,445.00 for Carol Pager Park Ballfields Improvements.
