Ms. Swackhamer stated that an email received from Doug Dowling along with an email provided by herself had been provided to the Board at this meeting. She also stated that a letter from Dean Thomas, Delaware County Engineer had sent an email regarding drainage concerns that had been mentioned, and he stated that he saw no issues with the addition of the 40’x60’ barn.

BZA 56-25 Jurisdiction: Board of Zoning Appeals
Being a continuation of a public hearing on the matter of an application filed by Andrew Collins, 6320 North County Road 600 West Gaston, Indiana, requesting variances from the terms of the Delaware County Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to allow increased height for a new accessory structure and to allow the accessory structures total square footage to be to be greater than that of the dwelling, all for a new pole barn in a residence zone, on premises located at 6320 North County Road 600 West, Harrison Township, Delaware County, Indiana, as more accurately described in the application.
Andrew Collins, 6320 N CR 600 W, Gaston, Indiana, appeared. He stated that he was asking for a new barn for his camper and his trucks so that that they can be stored inside. He stated that he had 4 children that would eventually be driving and wanted to keep the vehicles inside as well as start teaching them how to work on those vehicles.
Ms. Matheson stated that there were other buildings on the property and asked if those would accommodate the items he wanted to store indoors.
Mr. Collins stated that his main concern was the security issue of storing those items on the other side of the property and getting to it during bad weather. He stated that the existing garage was big enough for storage, but it was not easy to move things around and to work on the vehicles.
Ms. Mathewson asked if he would be willing to make the building smaller.
Mr. Collins asked how much smaller.
Ms. Mathewson stated she was not sure she was just asking if he would entertain that idea.
Mr. Collins stated yes.
