BZA 04-26
Dan Olson, appeared to represent the applicant. He stated that McDonald’s was more of an impulse purchase and that the monument sign would be a challenge for visibility with the current billboard.
Ms. Mathewson asked how the proposed sign compared in height to the billboard.
Mr. Olson stated that the goal was to be above the billboard for visibility especially for westbound traffic.
Mayor Ridenour appeared in support. He stated that he was not normally in favor of the pole signs but when you looked at the difficulties of this location, he understood the challenge. He stated that they were thrilled to have a McDonald’s on the southside and believed that it would warrant approval.
No one appeared in opposition.
Mr. Ivy stated that he had gone to this site and looked at the heights of other signs and this request seemed adequate so that it can be seen by people who did not know the area.
Mr. Ivy made a motion to approve BZA 04-26 the appeal of McDonalds and Pegasus Future II, LLC., with the hardship as stated in the application. Mr. Billington seconded the motion. Voting in favor: Mr. Billington, Mr. Ivy, and Ms. Mathewson. Voting against: Ms. Fritch and Ms. Knapp. Motion failed, BZA 04-26 automatically continued to the March 26, 2026 meeting.
