Ms. Fritch asked if the existing paved parking would be sufficient.

Mr. Case stated that the parking in front of the building was gravel, and that would be enough without using their adjacent lots.

Ms. Fritch asked what the expected length of time would be for someone in the program.

Mr. Case stated that the program was a full year, and that the hope was that a person would stay for that entire time to get the full benefits as they were rebuilding their lives.

Ms. Knapp asked if 2 bathrooms and shower areas were enough for 12 people.

Mr. Case stated that to his knowledge, for every 8 residents they would need a bathroom with a shower but that he would recheck that information.

Mr. Ivy asked if the Building Commissioner had done an inspection inside the building.

Mr. Case stated yes, the Building Commissioner, the HVAC Inspector and the Electrical Inspector had all been inside and that they had an electrical panel they needed to fix and a few outlets to update.

Mr. Ivy asked if there was enough parking for any future expansion on the other properties.

Mr. Case stated that they had the 2 vacant lots and that they would be open to any conditions placed by the Board. He stated that they also understood that any expansion or changes would require them to come back before this Board.

Mr. Blevins stated that they had purchased those vacant lots in case the city would not allow for the parking in front of the existing building.

Ms. Fritch asked if Ms. Ferguson knew if the development met the bathroom requirements.

Ms. Ferguson stated that she did not know the requirements but that would be for the City Building Commissioner to check.

Dan Tucker, 3401 W. Cantina, Upland, Indiana, appeared. He stated that he was with the company that was insuring the facility, and that they were very picky with the clients that accepted. He stated that he respected the Board for their roll in protecting the community, and that his company would not be backing the facility without the experience that the applicant had. He stated that this was a program for people who were trying to figure out how to live after addiction and that he understood that could be tough. He stated that they were very impressed with how things would be run, and that they only insured 2 other facilities such as this and that they would be doing their own inspections for safety.
