had seen the other side of addiction and that she would love to see the neighborhood cleaned up. She stated that Mr. Case and Mr. Blevins had volunteered at her church so she had met them and that they were working hard to help the community and she supported them.

Mike Hinson, appeared in support. He stated that he was a probation officer in Grant County and had been since 2000 he stated that he was also the Director and Coordinator of their drug program and he had seen the benefits of sober living programs. He stated that he appreciated the decision that the Board had to make on this matter, and hoped they understood the importance of a program like this. He stated that in the end this type of program would save the county money because when sober living facilities have available beds that means there are fewer people in jail.

Gary Burnham, 533 E. Horton St., Bluffton, Indiana, appeared. He stated that he felt it was obvious that Mr. Case and Mr. Blevins had the heart for the work that they do and he agreed with everything that had been said about them. He stated that he was the Forensic Coordinator for Delaware County IRAQ’s Program. He stated that he helped teach individuals coping skills to deal with their daily life. He stated that this was a men’s sober living house and that men struggle with leaning on people for support and that this would give them the safe space to that. He shared his personal story of addiction and recovery and how a sober living facility changed his life. He stated that when you have people who love you and encourage you, you can blossom and that the stereotype of individuals suffering from addiction needed to change.

Joe Rodrigues, 3903 S. Poplar St., Marion, Indiana, appeared. He stated that he was a peer support coach with clients in sober living facilities and some that were not. He stated that the ones in a sober living program have a better chance at stability to not end up back in jail and that he was in support of Kingdom Recovery.

Jared Hummer, 222 Angling Rd., Farmland, Indiana, appeared. He stated that he did not know Mr. Case and Mr. Blevins, only the work that they did. He stated that this was something that Muncie needed and that he supported the request. He stated that they thought of “once an addict always an addict” was not true and that a good Christian could not believe that. He spoke to his personal story of jail and addiction and to the work that has led him to, and that he was able to see lives change in a positive way.

Josh Noble, 5704 W Winterhawk Ct., Muncie, Indiana, appeared. He stated that he did not know the applicant but that he knew of their work. He stated that he had met some of the men through the New Norm and their outreach programs and that they were fathers, sons, and grandsons who needed support. He stated that he would ask to allow 15 residents because this facility will spread love and put families back together.
