Ms. Mathewson asked about the typical business hours.

Ms. Johnson stated that they were generally from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Mr. Johnson stated that he might have a customer that needs a vehicle for work so he may work later at night to get them going again.

Mr. Hinds asked if the closest neighbors were the one to the north and the one to the south.

Mr. Johnson stated yes.

Ms. Fritch asked if they would any objection to the Board placing a condition on the hours of operation.

Ms. Johnson stated that they had long time customers that they tried to help and take care of, and sometimes that meant later times for working on the vehicles and that they would do their best to comply.

Zach Morgan, appeared in support. He stated that Mr. Johnson drove to Kentucky to pick up a truck for him and that he had no issues with him, that he was a good man that tried to help everyone.

Rosalie Patton, 12221 E. Jackson St, appeared. She stated that her property was adjoining his on her east and his west and that she was not in opposition to him having a garage, but that when he moved in, he stated he would be having a junkyard. She stated that they had just got rid of a junkyard and did not want to start to have another one in the area. She stated that she had pictures showing 26 cars on the property that she had just taken yesterday.

Ms. Johnson stated that she apologized and that when Mr. Fouch explained it that items visible from the road needed to be fenced, she did not realize it was from her property as well. She stated that she had no problem installing a fence and that they were not creating a junkyard.

Mr. Johnson stated that the cars would be fixed and sold and that there was no way there was 26 cars there.

Ms. Fritch asked for clarification that the vehicles in the pictures were being fixed to be sold and asked if that was part of their business operations.

Mr. Johnson stated yes.

Mr. Ivy asked how far from the main road were the cars parked.

Ms. Johnson stated that they were 400’ from the highway.

Ms. Knapp asked how long they would be sitting there.

Ms. Johnson stated that they might be there another month and that 95% of his business was working on vehicles and maybe selling 1-2 cars per year.

Ms. Swackhamer stated that running a salvage yard or junkyard would not be allowed, which was not their request so approval of this variance would not allow them to keep junk or salvage vehicles.
