Authorizing the Borough Clerk to execute an agreement with Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) for Outdoor Lamp Post Lighting Repairs on Certain Streets within the Borough of Somerville

Whereas, the Borough of Somerville maintains decorative outdoor lamp posts and street lighting infrastructure located throughout the municipality; and

Whereas, certain lamp posts and related lighting equipment require repair, replacement, and maintenance to ensure proper operation and promote public safety; and

Whereas, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) has submitted a proposal to perform the necessary outdoor lamp post lighting repairs and related electrical work on designated streets within the Borough; and

Whereas, the Borough Engineer and Department of Public Works have reviewed the proposed work and determined that the repairs are necessary and in the best interests of the Borough; and

Whereas, sufficient funds have been certified by the Chief Financial Officer for this purpose.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Borough Council of the Borough of Somerville, County of Somerset, State of New Jersey, as follows:

  1. The Borough Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement, subject to review and approval by the Borough Attorney, with Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) for the repair, maintenance, replacement, and restoration of outdoor lamp posts and related lighting infrastructure on certain streets within the Borough of Somerville.
  2. The work authorized under the agreement may include, but is not limited to:
    • Repair and replacement of decorative lamp posts;
    • Repair and replacement of lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, and controls;
    • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs;
    • Underground wiring and conduit repairs;
    • Restoration of lighting service; and
    • Any related work necessary to restore proper operation of the outdoor lighting system.
  3. The total cost of the work shall be in accordance with the proposal submitted by PSE&G and approved by the Borough Engineer and Chief Financial Officer.
  4. The Mayor, Borough Clerk, Chief Financial Officer, Borough Engineer, and any other appropriate Borough officials are hereby authorized to execute any
