Dawud Anderson-Zafir is a Richmond, California native who returned to college at the College of Marin to pursue multimedia and game development. With experience launching independent businesses and strong involvement in the Umoja program, he brings both technical creativity and mentorship to his work. His teaching is rooted in persistence, innovation, and a passion for building meaningful opportunities through game design.

Fox, Nancy

Pilates instructor

Nancy Fox has been a certified Pilates instructor for over 11 years and teaches mat Pilates in Marin County.

Galvez, Hugo Que

Karate instructor

Hugo Que Galvez is a dedicated karate instructor who teaches Canal Karate, offering classes that focus on discipline, confidence, and physical fitness for the Canal community in San Rafael.

Calderon, Wendy

Preschool enrichment instructor

Wendy Calderon's 13 years as a nanny helped her discover a passion for working with others. Children are always living in the moment and connecting with joy. Working as a medical assistant, she valued her connection with clients and loved to see them smile and hear about their families. She decided to combine these efforts to create the Little Angels program, which operates in multiple sites in Marin.

Gorel, Ruti

Fitness instructor

Ruti is a certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner and a member of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America. After finding lasting relief from chronic back pain through the Feldenkrais Method®, she was inspired to pursue this work professionally. She completed a four-year training program and became certified in 2006. Ruti teaches classes and workshops throughout California, across the U.S., and internationally, helping people reduce pain and improve mobility.

Colker, Barbara

Fitness instructor

With a lifetime of experience in fitness and sports, this instructor has taught a wide range of classes including aerobics (high and low impact), step aerobics, strength and toning, belly dance, balance and stretch, and Yin yoga.

Harris, Cynthia

Yoga instructor

Cynthia Harris is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).

Cook, Zwanda

Sculpting instructor

Zwanda is a Bay Area Artist with over 20 years of experience working in Papier Mache. She creates both functional and non functional sculptures by transforming simple material into sculptural works defined by texture, form, and imagination. Her life size figurative works have been exhibited in various venues.

Hellman, Sarah Dang

Cooking instructor

Sarah Dang Hellman is Vietnamese and loves to cook Vietnamese cuisine. Cooking is one of her passions as food is nourishment to one’s soul. She teaches Vietnamese cooking classes in Marin County.

Contini, Nikki

Youth program instructor

Nikki Contini is a teaching artist who works in fused glass, polymer clay and mixed media. She brings her years of experience, playful warm style and bounty of unique art supplies to all her after-school art classes and workshops for both children and adults. Nikki creates and teaches with a mission to inspire creative expression, confidence and joy!

Le Moi, Greg

Taekwondo instructor

Greg Le Moi has been involved with martial arts for over 30 years. He has a background in Taekwondo, Jujitsu & Karate. He has taught children and adults of all ages including those with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Le Moi’s Martial Arts strives to create tomorrow’s leaders, one black belt at a time.

Davis, Nicole

Ms. Davis is a hands-on workshop leader who blends creativity, curiosity, and connection in every class. With experience in education and a personal drive for creation, she'll teach your child not only to bake, but to explore fermentation, nutrition, science, and sensory learning, empowering them to experiment and discover.

Jensen, Scott

Martial arts instructor

Scott Jensen is a traditionally trained Kung Fu and Tai Chi master with more than 40 years of teaching experience and an international gold medalist. He enjoys sharing his love of the martial arts with everyone from beginning to more experienced students. Scott studied with grandmasters of traditional Chinese martial arts, which includes Northern Shaolin, Lohan, Xing Yi Quan and Tai Chi Chuan, as well as Chi Chuan, Xing Yi Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, and Lan Shou Quan with the lineage masters in each style.

Friedland, Michael

Painting instructor

Michael studied painting and design at the Paier School of Art, Coronado School of Fine Arts, and the Philadelphia College of Art. After a 40-year design career, he now teaches watercolor in Mill Valley and Oakland, works with Vietnam veterans through CWA, teaches annually at Yosemite’s artist-in-residence program, and serves as Director of the California Watercolor Association’s National Exhibition.

Johnson, Rachel

Ikebana instructor

With over 20 years of experience, Rachel is a certified Sogetsu teacher (Komon) who creates ikebana designs for homes, events, and exhibitions, and teaches classes and workshops for all ages. She presents widely for organizations, schools, museums, and garden clubs, and exhibits annually at Bouquets to Art at the de Young Museum.
