(FY2025 and FY2026 Municipal Aid Programs)
Whereas, the Borough of Somerville (the “Borough”) received a Fiscal Year 2025 Municipal Aid Program grant allotment from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (“NJDOT”) in the amount of $226,807.00 for the South Middaugh Street and Washington Place Improvements project (the “Project”); and
Whereas, the Engineer’s Estimate associated with the original FY2025 grant application was approximately $407,805.00, and the Borough thereafter applied for and was awarded additional funding in the amount of $316,190.00 under the FY2026 Municipal Aid Program, resulting in a combined Municipal Aid allotment of $542,997.00; and
Whereas, as the Project design has progressed and the proposed construction quantities have been further developed, the Engineer’s Estimate for the work within the currently State-participating project limits is approximately $393,838.00, which is less than the combined Municipal Aid funding available, resulting in approximately $149,159.00 in available Municipal Aid funding; and
Whereas, the Borough desires to utilize the available Municipal Aid funding by extending the Project limits along Washington Place to include the remaining westerly section of Washington Place, from South Middaugh Street to the proposed westerly project limit; and
