Municipal Court

A municipal court is established under the laws of Ohio and is operated as part of the state court system. It has both civil and criminal jurisdiction. The court staff currently consists of a part-time judge, a portion of the law director's salary as the city prosecutor, and two fulltime clerks. The city is required to provide office space and to pay all expenses of the court, less receipts for fines, forfeiters, and filing fees. As of 1/1/2026, the Ohio Supreme Court pays $56,099 of the Judge's salary of $93,099. The balance of the Judge's salary, and the salaries of the clerk and bailiff, are shared by the City (60%) and Montgomery County (40%).
